American cuisine is known for their big plates and big portions compared to other places in the world. In America they focus on quantity rather than quality, even though the quality is pretty good, but the food portions served compared to other continents is relatively much bigger. Not to mention the plates they serve the food on are pretty big compared to other places in the world. Their food portions are guaranteed to make you feel full, trust me! California is located right next to Mexico, and the Mexican influence on LA is huge. First of all , we will see a lot of Mexicans in LA and they bring with them really delicious and original Mexican food which I also recommend you try. The tacos, nachos, steaks, and burritos are delicious and you can truly taste the real Mexican flavors in their food. Just make sure not to order spicy as their food can get really spicy.
LA is known as the celebrity capital of the world, Hollywood is in LA so expect to see celebrities as you walk around LA, there might be famous singers, actors, you name it. Music is everywhere, in restaurants, malls, or even in the cars as they cruise around the streets. Not to mention the Mexican music you hear blasting from some of the cars.
The biggest cultural shock that I noticed in LA was how the American citizens are really into politics as compared to the other countries in the world. As we know, 2024 is an election year in the USA where the next president will be elected. The American political system is controlled by either the Democrats or Republicans. The Democrats are represented by the blue color while the Republicans are represented by the red color. However, the interesting thing is that neither party truly supports and loves their representative. As I walked around in LA, I noticed Mr. Trump’s supporters carrying the Republican flag and his picture and loudly shouting for his support. As opposed to the other party their support is done very peacefully and you don’t see them fighting with the other parties. It is more of a carnival than a political party.
